Christine LURTON - de CAIX

Home > Our Company > The women and the men > LURTON - de CAIX Christine

Manager in charge of Communication for Great Wines
 - Châteaux La Louvière and Couhins-Lurton -

Christine Lurton was born in Bordeaux. However, she spent her childhood and a large part of her teenage years at the family estate, Château Bonnet, in Grézillac, before going to boarding school in Bordeaux.

Her passion for wine came from her father, André Lurton… Christine and her six brothers and sisters' first playground was among the vines at Château Bonnet. Work in the vineyard that changes with every season was part of her everyday reality, as was the lively atmosphere at vintage time and discovering the mysteries of winemaking...

How could she possibly escape from such a destiny? Christine graduated with a diploma for helping disabled children at the age of 18.

However, her roots and her attraction to the wine industry were just too great... She left to discover the US, where she was welcomed by Alfio Moriconi, a client and friend of the family. He taught Christine how to taste and appreciate wines from around the world (great wines from Burgundy and Bordeaux, but also astonishing wines from lesser-known regions). Christine has wonderful memories of that time in her life.

Back in France, she worked for eight years at Château Clos Fourtet, a Premier Grand Cru Classé B in Saint-Emilion that belonged to the Lurton family at the time. Her uncle, Dominique Lurton, showed her all the ropes. Christine welcomed visitors, looked after the office, managed human resources and the payroll, etc. She received all-around training in several areas. She also perfected her skills in tasting and evaluating wines. This experience at Clos Fourtet was her first encounter with the demanding standards involved with running a great growth.

Job and know-how

In 2005, she was appointed President of the Executive Board of Château Dauzac, a prestigious great growth in the Margaux appellation. She maintained this function until April 2014.

In September 2014, Christine Lurton-de Caix joined the great wines division of Vignobles André Lurton created in 2012. She is now international ambassadress for Châteaux La Louvière and Couhins-Lurton, taking part in numerous events organised by the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux, the Union des Crus Classés de Graves, and the Conseil des Vins de Graves.

Christine will tell you enthusiastically, "There's something magical about making great wine".  She has the same passion for the world of wine as her entire family, and is very motivated to share it with others. Bon sang ne saurait mentir!  (good breeding always shows through).
