Château Grossombre de Saint-Joseph Red

Home > Our Wines > Our wines > Château Grossombre de Saint-Joseph Rouge

This remarkable wine immediately attracts one's attention because of its deep reddish-black colour. The bouquet strikes a fine balance between vanilla nuances, smoky aromas and ripe fruit (mainly blackcurrant) overtones. Château Grossombre starts out quite smooth and is altogether generous and well-structured on the palate. Spicy, oaky notes prolong the pleasure of this rich wine that deserves to age.

label of 2015 Château Grossombre de Saint-Joseph
Appellation : Bordeaux supérieur

Wine style

Rich and Powerful

Grape blend

Merlot 50% / Cabernet Sauvignon 50%.

Weather

2015 was the third warmest year since 1900... Drought conditions, above-average monthly temperatures and sunshine (in the first half of the year), cool nights and hot weather in August accompanying véraison (colour change) were all ideal for the vines!

Tasting Comment

Appareance

2015 Château Grossombre is a deep, dark colour.

Nose

The powerful bouquet reflects the quality of the superb 2015 vintage. Toasty oak aromas provide an excellent counterpoint to the elegant nuances of black fruit and spices released with aeration.

Mouth

Tasty, rich, and full-bodied, this wine has refined tannin that guarantees good ageing potential.  Both rich and charming, it makes a superb partner for red meats – whether roast beef, duck, or a chesseburger!
