André Lurton passed away on the 16th of May. A respected businessman and wine lover, he led the Vignobles André Lurton until his very last day. He was a visionary entrepreneur and had carefully prepared the group's future, with the aspiration that it would remain within the family and his children would succeed him. This was set in motion in 2012, when the company's capital increased, thus enabling Idia, a Crédit Agricole subsidiary, to join forces with the family. It was also decided that his son, Jacques Lurton, would become the first president to follow in André Lurton's footsteps.
It is with deep sorrow that the Lurton family, relatives, and all of the teams at Vignobles André Lurton announce the passing of Mr. André Lurton on Thursday the 16th of May 2019.
This year marked the launch of the "Sustainable Vineyard" awards, in partnership with the Terre de Vins magazine and Sud-Ouest newspaper, with the aim of supporting and promoting the "Bordeaux Sustainable Vineyard" initiative founded by the CIVB (Bordeaux Wine Council). Each year, winemaking estates, négociant firms and cooperative cellars will be awarded prizes for their social, environmental, and sustainable development practices.
At the start of each year, numerous events are organised by the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux (UGCB), bringing together key industry players to promote our latest wines at the international level.
