The 2020 harvest is close to the end ... Last Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were picked on our estates in Pessac-Léognan in the last few days.
On September 8, the 2020 red grapes harvest started at Château La Louvière, with around fifty pickers. Great atmosphere in the vineyard, as every year, in the late summer. Everyone was there!
Here are some moments ...
The weather conditions in 2019 gave the winegrowing teams something to smile about: the mild winter temperatures resulted in early bud break and, consequently, an early growing cycle. The summer drought conditions were toned down by a few storms mid-July, followed by cool nights in August and some rainy spells early September.
At the start of each year, numerous events are organised by the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux (UGCB), bringing together key industry players to promote our latest wines at the international level.
We began harvesting the young vines in our Pessac-Léognan vineyards on 24 August. Harvesting started a few days later at Château La Louvière and Château Couhins-Lurton, around the same date as last year on 28 August. A very wet spring and aggressive mildew attack indicated that the 2018 harvests would be somewhat late, but the exceptional weather conditions that began to prevail in our region from the onset of summer enabled the vegetation to make up for lost time and provide us with grapes of remarkable quality.
