As part of the celebrations during the Vinexpo , a gala evening was organised at Château Couhins-Lurton, a Graves great growth and jewel of the Pessac-Léognan appellation.
It rained cats and dogs, and this was the first time that André Lurton can remember, in 60 years of receptions and celebrations organised in Bordeaux, that there was so much water for a celebration devoted to wine!
However, the Vignobles André Lurton team was fully prepared, and 280 guests were welcomed by André Lurton and Pascal Le Faucheur to enjoy a meal in the midst of vats and barrels underneath the vaulted chestnut wood beams of the Couhins-Lurton cellars.
The theme was "The 4 Seasons of Wine", with four tasting workshops revolving around the matching of food and wines from our estates.
The dinner that followed was a very enjoyable illustration of this theme, and this treat for the tastebuds was accompanied by one for the ears: lyrical flights of fancy (extracts from Carmen and La Wally sung by soprano Laurence Janot from the Paris Opera and baritone Rodrigue Calderon, accompanied by two dancers from the Opéra de Bordeaux ballet company). The evening ended with the amazing spectacle of dancers in 4 transparent bubbles representing the four seasons.
The guests were so delighted that they completely forget about the bad weather for a few hours...
Everyone agreed that this was a tremendously convivial evening in which art and wine joined forces to the satisfaction of all.
