Do you have a special event to celebrate or are you planning a diner with friends? We will help you to find the perfect wine.
In partnership with the magazine "Terre de vins", the Saint- Émilion Wine Council organized the Coupe des Crus de Saint-Émilion on June 14 last for the 2015 Vinexpo exhibition. This competition brought together 112 crus from the Saint-Émilion, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, Lussac Saint-Émilion and Puisseguin Saint-Émilion A.O.C. appellations in a blind two-by-two tasting of three vintages: 2010, 2011 and 2012, based on the principle of elimination matches.
The juries consisted of specialized journalists and wine professionals (cellarmen, sommeliers, wine merchants, importers, and that's not all), nearly 250 tasters from all over the world.
The aim was to reward the most regular crus in terms of the quality of all the vintages presented in each of the appellations. Château Barbe Blanche competed in the Lussac Saint-Émilion category.
After several series of tastings opposing it to crus from the same appellation, Château de Barbe Blanche won the Coupe des Crus de Lussac Saint-Émilion 2015.
Château de Barbe Blanche already featured as a finalist in 2013...
The trophy (created by the house of Riedel, also a partner in this event) thus rewarded the beautiful regularity of the quality of its wines , over the three vintages selected (2010-2011-2012).
As pointed out by Pascal Le Faucheur, General Director of André Lurton Vineyards: "... always and ever to improve the quality of our wines is one of our priorities. This qualitative policy is clearly visible today at every level, from the Barbe Blanche vineyard to the winery: construction of a new vat house in late 2014 (an investment of €900k), renowned oenologist Michel Rolland and his assistant Mickael Laizet as consultants from the 2015 vintage onward…"
On 23 October next, the fortunate 16 winning crus will be guests of honour at an exceptional evening (with tastings organized by the magazine "Terre de vins") in the prestigious Hôtel Bristol, in Paris.
