Once again this year, Vignobles André Lurton celebrated the Franco-Swedish alliance with an exceptional dinner at Château la Louvière...
As a way of highlighting the close links between Sweden and our firm, André Lurton and Pascal Le Faucheur invited nearly 80 guests to a dinner on 18 September 2012. These included M. Yann Schÿler (the Swedish Consul in Bordeaux) as well as many members of the Swedish community in Bordeaux and journalists from both France and Sweden specialised in fine dining...
Two talented chefs joined forces to prepare this outstanding dinner. Pascal Nibaudeau (the Michelin-starred chef at the Pressoir d'Argent restaurant in the Grand Hôtel de Bordeaux) from France and Jonas Lundgren (who has his own gastronomic restaurant, received a silver medal at the Bocuse d’Or cooking competition and was designated a "rising star" by the "White Guide", the Swedish equivalent of the Michelin) from Sweden. This evening was also the occasion for the two chefs to create dishes they felt were a perfect match for the wines being served (2008 Château de Rochemorin blanc was thus accompanied by "scallops and foie gras confit in Savoy cabbage with cream of watercress soup" as well as "salmon marinaded in horseradish with smoked mayonnaise"...).
This event was a unique opportunity for everyone to share a memorable meal combining subtle and surprising Scandinavian flavours with rich, astonishing ones from France.
This evening was the high point of a four-day trip during which young Swedish sommeliers, all awarded prizes by the Culinary Academy of Sweden in Stockholm in 2012, came to take part in the vintage at our Pessac-Léognan estates (grape picking at Château de Rochemorin, cellar work at Château Couhins-Lurton, demonstration of barrel making at the Tonnellerie Bordelaise in Martillac, etc...).
