Cellarmaster of Château de Cruzeau
Sébastien Cogny was born in the Charente-Maritime department in 1972. A nature lover whose childhood was punctuated by harvests and marked by the constraints of farming, he obtained a scientific baccalauréat diploma specialising in agronomy. He then caught the "wine bug" from the owner of a Médoc château that he had gone to visit. In keeping with this new-found enthusiasm, he went on to study viticulture and oenology as well as the wine and spirits trade at the Lycée Agricole in Montagne-Saint-Émilion. He received an advanced vocational diploma in both fields.
Sébastien joined the Vignobles André Lurton team in September 1996 to take part in the vintage at Château Bonnet, along with Laurent Le Dez and Corinne Duboureau.
After fourteen years with the company, he was offered a job as cellarmaster at Château de Cruzeau in Martillac. He was fortunate enough to be able to take advantage of the great weather during the 2010 vintage to make his very first wine there, which is superb.
At ease in a profession that combines tradition and new technologies, Sébastien and his team do their utmost, year after year, to make the best possible wine and, above all, one that reflects the terroir.
