Cellarmaster of Château La Louvière
Jean-Marc Comte was born in Bordeaux in 1968. He spent his childhood in Léognan, that part of the Graves that is the historic cradle of Bordeaux wines, where he was surrounded by some of the world's most prestigious vineyards from a very early age. His career can be said to have already been mapped out for him... He obtained an advanced vocational certificate in viticulture and oenology from the Lycée in Blanquefort and, over the years, acquired a passion for fine wine. After 13 years of work experience, he went back to studying and was recognised as a fully qualified oenologist by the Bordeaux Faculty of Oenology thanks, in part, to validation of his work experience.
Jean-Marc Comte came to work for Vignobles André Lurton in 1993. Starting as a cellar worker, he was promoted to cellarmaster at Château de Cruzeau in 1995.
In 2010, he became a cellarmaster at Château La Louvière.
For Jean-Marc Comte, who did numerous internships in the some of greatest classified growths of the Médoc, the ongoing quest for perfection is a leitmotiv. He does his best in every vintage to reflect the quintessence of these unique terroirs that have made Pessac-Léognan so famous around the world.
He therefore aims to make wines that are not only technically irreproachable, but also true to their terroir, pleasurable and inspiring. Jean-Marc is delighted to share his know-how and his passion with visitors.
