Cellarmaster of Château Bonnet
Laurent Le Dez was born in 1966, in Amboise (Indre-et-Loire department) in the heart of the Touraine-Amboise appellation, whose wines were praised by the poet Rabelais. Laurent was thus perhaps predestined to be intrigued by the world of wine – which he knew little about – but which he would be a part of in a few years’ time...
After receiving an advanced vocational certificate in viticulture and winemaking in Montpellier, he came to Bordeaux for his first work experiences (internships). These were in Pomerol and Saint-Émilion, in châteaux belonging to the Moueix family.
In 1990, Laurent came to work for Vignobles André Lurton as assistant to Pierre Perrin, cellarmaster of Château Bonnet at the time. His job was also to follow bottling at various production facilities.
Laurent took over from Pierre Perrin when the latter retired in 1993. Starting in 1998, he delegated someone else to look after bottling and devoted all his energy to Château Bonnet and other satellite vineyards in the Entre-Deux-Mers, for which he became cellarmaster.
Over the years, he and his team have constantly improved quality and contributed to creating new wines (such as Cuvée Divinus red, and rosé wines, since few years...), while remaining open to comments from consumers as long as they are helpful. Every vintage is a challenge, and every year is different... And that is why Laurent Le Dez loves his profession.
