Head of Production (viticulture and winemaking)
at Château de Cruzeau

Originally from the region of Rouen, Normandy, Emilie Roullé first studied to be a vet before she decided to train as an agricultural engineer, initially focusing on livestock production and viticulture. This gave her a real insight into the wine industry, and marked the beginning of her new-found passion.

During her third year of engineering studies at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Agronomie (school of agricultural sciences) in Montpellier, southern France, Emilie also had the opportunity to complete an oenology diploma.

Job and know-how

Emilie's family ties in southwest France led her to start her viticultural career in the Bordeaux region in 1998. She undertook her first internship at Château Chantegrive in the Graves de Bordeaux region, where she learned everything there was to know about making red and white wines.

That same year, she was appointed Technical Director of three Médoc estates belonging to Marie-Laure Lurton, in the prestigious Margaux, Moulis, and Haut-Médoc appellations. Her approach to viticulture focuses primarily on sustainable development, a philosophy which she implemented during the twenty years she spent in the Médoc terroir.

In May 2018, she joined the Vignobles André Lurton team as Head of Production at Château de Cruzeau. The notion of terroir is fundamental to Emilie's winemaking approach, and particularly so at Cruzeau, which features a diverse, complex terroir that wholly deserves to unveil itself!

Today, Emilie's challenge lies in expressing the full potential of the terroir, whilst committing to sustainable viticulture, emphasising respect for the environment, as well as preserving soils and biodiversity. Château de Cruzeau wines are the epitome of their outstanding terroir.
