Château Bonnet White

Very Sauvignon, this wine of André Lurton at an affordable price, is an example of "everyday wine": succulent aromas of pear and tropical fruit, nervous and expressive on the palate, clean finish and well-defined . Intelligent, vibrant easy to drink yet.

Chateau : Château Bonnet
label château Bonnet 2012 white
Appellation : Entre-deux-Mers

Wine style

Elegant and Fruity

Grape blend

Sauvignon 55% / Sémillon 35% / Muscadelle 10%.

Weather

Spring was very trying, with considerable rainfall leading to fungal diseases of all sorts. This called for very close attention in the vines until the 14th of July, when the weather changed durably for the better.

Tasting Comment

Appareance

Pale yellow colour with scintillating green highlights.

Nose

Tropical fruit, citrus and white flowers (acacia) on the nose.

Mouth

As usual, the wine is charming, smooth and extremely fruity on the palate. The long, fresh aftertaste features nuances of ripe yellow peaches.

Fresh, pure and unoaked white bordeaux with elements of herbs, citrus, nettle, melon and gooseberries on the nose. Slim, structured and very fresh also in the mouth, with nice acidity, good length and crisp and green finish.

2014 Edition - Consisting of Sauvignon Blanc (50%), Sémillon and Muscadelle from one of André Lurton's many estates, this is one of the appellation's most reliable wines, and was clearly successful in the 2012 vintage. The wine has a pale colour with green highlights and an altogether classic, elegant appearance.  The bouquet opens up beautifully with intense aromas of tropical fruit (lychee), citrus and freshly-cut grass. The wine starts out straightforward and crisp on the palate, going on to show good body and a long aftertaste. It displays a fine balance between vivaciousness and richness, enhanced by a long, fruity, fleshy finish. This Entre-Deux-Mers is ideal with food, for example gravlax (raw cured salmon).

A perfect success. Charming bouquet of ripe fruit and spice. Full-bodied, round, very fresh, and with a beautiful long aftertaste.
