Château Bonnet Réserve Red

Wine style

Rich and Powerful

Grape blend

Merlot 50% / Cabernet Sauvignon 50%.

2016 was one of the finest vintages in the past 20 years. Winter was exceptionally wet and mild, and it rained a great deal in spring until June. However, the weather changed radically in mid-June, turning warm and quite dry, with cool nights. Ideal conditions for growing excellent wine grapes!

Tasting Comment

This wine is a lovely, deep, almost garnet-red colour.

The bouquet is pleasant with hints of fresh blackcurrant, flowers (wilted rose, violet), as well as red-berry fruit, such as strawberries, and a slight minty aroma.

The suppleness of the first impression on the palate follows through with lovely balance, fruity flavours, and some toasty overtones. This wine still has all its youthful vigour, with powerful tannin and the potential to age well for years to come. Wait two or three years to taste it at its peak, served with a fine roast rib of beef or vegetable quiche.
