Thanks to expressive fruit – but without excessive concentration – Château Bonnet's red wine is unquestionably charming. In fact, it is a benchmark in Bordeaux. The wine is best enjoyed on the young side, although the quality tannin ensures good ageing for several year.
Full and Complex
Merlot 50% / Cabernet Sauvignon 50%.
2007 was cool and wet from May to August, and not particularly conducive to ripening for the red wine varieties. A beautiful month of September – warm and relatively dry – meant that the grapes could be picked over a long period at perfect ripeness.
This wine lights up the glass with its deep red color, enlivened by flashes of vermilion.
The nose shows instantly identifiable aromas of black cherry and ripe strawberry, to which may be added cassis and violet, with a slight toasty note.
Pleasantly opulent, the fruit is surprisingly rich, while the wine's smooth texture is pure enjoyment. Will drink well with a variety of dishes for at least ten years. Charmingly balanced.
