Château Bonnet Red

Thanks to expressive fruit – but without excessive concentration – Château Bonnet's red wine is unquestionably charming. In fact, it is a benchmark in Bordeaux. The wine is best enjoyed on the young side, although the quality tannin ensures good ageing for several year.

Chateau : Château Bonnet
label château Bonnet red 2012
Appellation : Bordeaux

Wine style

Tender and Aromatic

Grape blend

Merlot 50 % / Cabernet Sauvignon 50%.

Weather

Spring was very trying, with considerable rainfall leading to fungal diseases of all sorts. This called for very close attention in the vines until the 14th of July, when the weather changed durably for the better.

Tasting Comment

Appearance

Intense ruby-red colour with purple highlights indicating its youthfulness.

Nose

The nose is beautifully concentrated and reminiscent of mixed ripe red fruits.  Notes of blackcurrant and cherry are followed by spicy nuances.

Mouth

The wine is round on the palate as well as quite tannic, which accounts for its attractive structure. Fresh fruit flavours, such as Morello cherry, combine with more ripe strawberry nuances. This wine is clearly pleasurable and ideal with roast beef or double cheese cannelloni in a mushroom and tomato sauce.
