Château Bonnet Red

Thanks to expressive fruit – but without excessive concentration – Château Bonnet's red wine is unquestionably charming. In fact, it is a benchmark in Bordeaux. The wine is best enjoyed on the young side, although the quality tannin ensures good ageing for several year.

Chateau : Château Bonnet
2013 Château Bonnet red label
Appellation : Bordeaux

Wine style

Tender and Aromatic

Grape blend

Merlot 50 % / Cabernet Sauvignon 50%.

Weather

There was record rainfall during the first half of 2013. Spring was very cool, even cold (May and June), and this caused a major delay in vine growth (flowering). Much more clement weather (warm and sunny) arrived in July and lasted until the harvest.

Tasting Comment

Appareance

Lovely deep garnet-red colour with violet highlights.

Nose

Elegant, with appealing hints of red fruit (raspberry and redcurrant) and a slight smokiness.

Mouth

Starts out smooth and round on the palate, going on to reveal delicious fresh fruit aromas, as well as hints of blackcurrant and clove. The aftertaste is every bit as good, with a touch of vanilla. This wine goes beautifully with beef, lamb, delicatessen meats, etc.

Deep, attractive colour. Pleasant fruity, spicy aromas. The wine starts out straightforward and enticing on the palate. It is rich and round. There is a marked acidity, but this detracts in no way. Spicy finish. Not bad for a 2013!

2015/2016 Édition - Nose of blackberry, resin, warm rocks, smoke, and menthol. Full-bodied, rich, and straightforward on the palate with plenty of tannin and a long aftertaste. Quite solid for the vintage.
