Château Coucheroy Red

Home > Our Wines > Our wines > Château Coucheroy Rouge

"Couchiroy" or "Couche Roi" in Gascon. According to legend, one stormy evening, King Henri IV, returning from the Battle of Coutras, stopped here for a rest. This red Pessac-Léognan is easy-to-enjoy, smooth and fruity. It nevertheless displays the elegance and finesse typical of wines from this region of Bordeaux Graves. Château Coucheroy has classic blackcurrant and smoky aromas reminiscent of the atmosphere in a gentleman’s club...

Label of 2015 red Château Coucheroy
Appellation : Pessac-Léognan

Wine style

Rich and Powerful

Grape blend

Cabernet Sauvignon 45% / Merlot 55 %.

Weather

2015 was the third warmest year since 1900... Drought conditions, above-average monthly temperatures and sunshine (in the first half of the year), cool nights and hot weather in August accompanying véraison (colour change) were all ideal for the vines!

Tasting Comment

Appareance

Beautiful, brilliant, deep ruby-red colour.

Nose

Attractive and complex bouquet with lots of red fruit (strawberry) aromas, along with vanilla and empyreumatic nuances.

Mouth

Very generous, balanced, and drinkable. The main impression on the palate is of roundness and smoothness, with elegant tannin. The overall equilibrium is excellent, and there is a touch of vanilla thanks to well-integrated oak. This delicious wine is in its element with lamb, duck, or pork dishes.
