Château Coucheroy Red

"Couchiroy" or "Couche Roi" in Gascon. According to legend, one stormy evening, King Henri IV, returning from the Battle of Coutras, stopped here for a rest. This red Pessac-Léognan is easy-to-enjoy, smooth and fruity. It nevertheless displays the elegance and finesse typical of wines from this region of Bordeaux Graves. Château Coucheroy has classic blackcurrant and smoky aromas reminiscent of the atmosphere in a gentleman’s club...

label château Coucheroy red 2007
Appellation : Pessac-Léognan

Wine style

Soft and Sensual

Grape blend

Cabernet Sauvignon 50% / Merlot 50%.

2007, cool and wet from May to August, was not particularly favorable to the ripening of red grapes. The weather in September, warm and relatively dry, allowed to spread the harvest to reach perfect maturity.

Tasting Comment

The Coucheroy Red 2007 is a scintillating, luminous violet-streaked red.

The nose is strawberry and cassis, with clean, attractive aromas.

Good freshness, already drinking well. Soft upfront, rounding out to a full palate. The oak, already mellow, is beautifully balanced.  Lovely vanilla, smoky notes from the barrel-aging make this a delightful wine to enjoy with veal roast or tournedos of beef. (January, 2010)
