Château Coucheroy Red

"Couchiroy" or "Couche Roi" in Gascon. According to legend, one stormy evening, King Henri IV, returning from the Battle of Coutras, stopped here for a rest. This red Pessac-Léognan is easy-to-enjoy, smooth and fruity. It nevertheless displays the elegance and finesse typical of wines from this region of Bordeaux Graves. Château Coucheroy has classic blackcurrant and smoky aromas reminiscent of the atmosphere in a gentleman’s club...

label château Coucheroy red 2008
Appellation : Pessac-Léognan

Wine style

Rich and Powerful

Grape blend

Cabernet Sauvignon 50% / Merlot 50%.

Weather

The main features this year were humidity and cold. There were heavy rains in April and May (during the vegetative cycle) and a cool summer, especially in June and August. Warm, dry weather in September enhanced ripening.

Tasting Comment

Appearance

Elegant ruby highlights, still appears very young.

Nose

Opening with red berry notes, after agitation the nose shows toasty, smoky notes, gaining complexity with brackeny, spicy tones.

Mouth

The palate is juicy and fullbodied, revealing the ripeness of the grapes, and the tannins rapidly show silky, melting presence and persistence, which deserves a year or two more of laying down. The red fruit is lingering and elegant. Will be perfect with grilled lamb.

Consumption period

2013 - 2018
