Château Grossombre de Saint-Joseph Red

This remarkable wine immediately attracts one's attention because of its deep reddish-black colour. The bouquet strikes a fine balance between vanilla nuances, smoky aromas and ripe fruit (mainly blackcurrant) overtones. Château Grossombre starts out quite smooth and is altogether generous and well-structured on the palate. Spicy, oaky notes prolong the pleasure of this rich wine that deserves to age.

label château Grossombre de Saint-Joseph red 2007
Appellation : Bordeaux supérieur

Wine style

Soft and Sensual

Grape blend

Cabernet Sauvignon 50% / Merlot 50%.

Weather

2007 was cool and wet from May to August, and not particularly conducive to ripening for the red wine varieties. A beautiful month of September – warm and relatively dry – meant that the grapes could be picked over a long period at perfect ripeness.

Tasting Comment

Appareance

Dark, intense colour.

Nose

Powerful nose of red fruits and grilled notes. Tobacco, truffle, chocolate and smoke aromas still present from the barrel aging.

Mouth

Lots of red fruit notes on the palate. Rich, concentrated, full-bodied, with a long finish. Remarkable structure. Very promising, needs a bit of time to mellow, will be excellent with barbecue or roasts.

Consumption period

2013 - 2017
