Château Grossombre de Saint-Joseph Red

This remarkable wine immediately attracts one's attention because of its deep reddish-black colour. The bouquet strikes a fine balance between vanilla nuances, smoky aromas and ripe fruit (mainly blackcurrant) overtones. Château Grossombre starts out quite smooth and is altogether generous and well-structured on the palate. Spicy, oaky notes prolong the pleasure of this rich wine that deserves to age.

label château Grossombre de Saint-Joseph red 2008
Appellation : Bordeaux supérieur

Wine style

Soft and Sensual

Grape blend

Cabernet Sauvignon 50% / Merlot 50%.

Weather

The main features this year were humidity and cold. There were heavy rains in April and May (during the vegetative cycle) and a cool summer, especially in June and August. Warm, dry weather in September enhanced ripening.

Tasting Comment

Appareance

Remarkable intense garnet.

Nose

Definite red fruit leitmotif, strong presence upfront intensifies after agitation, with vanilla notes adding a delicate spicy touch.

Mouth

Smooth and supple upfront, the palate echoes the red fruit theme, structured by silky tannins. A toasty finish adds complexity. Very agreeable and harmonious, will drink well in two or three years with stuffed veal cutlets.
