Château Guibon White

Nestled on one of the numerous slopes in the Entre-Deux-Mers, just a short distance from the famous medieval town of Saint-Emilion, Château Guibon has a very long history. The monks at the neighbouring abbey of La Sauve Majeure are known to have made wine on clay-limestone terroir here in the 17th century. This was already much appreciated by connoisseurs. The white wines are light, aromatic and fruity.

label of 2016 Château Guibon white - Bordeaux
Appellation : Entre-deux-Mers

Wine style

Fresh and Fruity

Grape blend

Sauvignon blanc 57% / Sémillon 43%

Weather

2016 was one of the finest vintages in the past 20 years. Winter was exceptionally wet and mild, and it rained a great deal in spring until June. However, the weather changed radically in mid-June, turning warm and quite dry, with cool nights. Ideal conditions for growing excellent wine grapes!

Tasting Comment

Appearance

Lovely, brilliant, very pale yellow colour.

Nose

Showing complex aromas of tropical fruit and citrus, the bouquet manages to be both intense and ethereal. There are also hints of yellow peach, proving that the grapes were picked very ripe.

Mouth

Rich and full-bodied. Its freshness enables the flavours to last from beginning to end of the tasting. Although still very young, this wine has a soft, pleasant, velvety aftertaste. Balanced and charming, it is perfect as an aperitif, or with salads and seafood dishes.

Consumption period

2017 - 2018
