Château Guibon White

Nestled on one of the numerous slopes in the Entre-Deux-Mers, just a short distance from the famous medieval town of Saint-Emilion, Château Guibon has a very long history. The monks at the neighbouring abbey of La Sauve Majeure are known to have made wine on clay-limestone terroir here in the 17th century. This was already much appreciated by connoisseurs. The white wines are light, aromatic and fruity.

label of 2020 Château Guibon white
Appellation : Entre-deux-Mers

Wine style

Fresh and Fruity

Grape blend

Sauvignon blanc 78% / Sémillon 22%

Weather

2020 was marked by very mild temperatures and contrasting precipitation: heavy spring rainfall was followed by an intense summer drought. The fairly mild winter led to early bud break. The summer heat gave way to cool nights in late August, ideal for ripening grapes.

Tasting Comment

Appearance

Colour is bright, very pale yellow with some silver highlights.

Nose

Very expressive, nose gives off delicious notes of citrus and white flowers (broom).

Mouth

Attack is very pleasant. Mouth is fresh, with a nice fatness, full of greediness with its lemony, slightly acidulous notes. This wine will be the ideal companion of a nice seafood platter, a courgette mousse with pesto or even a cheese platter (Gouda, Crottin de Chavignol...)

Consumption period

2021 - 2023
