Nestled on one of the numerous slopes in the Entre-Deux-Mers, just a short distance from the famous medieval town of Saint-Emilion, Château Guibon has a very long history. The monks at the neighbouring abbey of La Sauve Majeure are known to have made wine on clay-limestone terroir here in the 17th century. This was already much appreciated by connoisseurs. The reds are full-bodied and vigorous, and become smoother 2 or 3 years after the vintage.
Rich and Powerful
Cabernet Sauvignon 50% / Merlot 50%.
While January and February were colder than average, 2009 was nevertheless a warm year (one of the warmest in a century). There was a great deal of sunshine and a remarkable drought during the summer months.
Shows the intense colour characteristic of a vintage universally acknowledged for its excellence.
Intense, fresh fruit nose, cassis with subtle shadings of vanilla and spice.
More fruit on the palate, silky tannins and an impression of softness give the wine a luscious savour. Excellent balance overall. Drink now, or in a couple of years to get the full measure of its clean fruit and lush appeal. Perfect with barbecue.
