Château Prieuré Lalande Red

Château Prieuré Lalande is one of the most reliable wines in the Lussac-Saint-Émilion appellation. Ideally situated on a clay-limestone rise in Lussac, this estate benefits from the expertise of a team focused on producing wines of the same complexity and quality as the great châteaux of nearby Saint-Émilion.

Weather

Temperatures were much higher than average from February to June, with much less rainfall than usual. There were already signs of drought at the end of Spring.

Tasting Comment

Appearance

Lovely colour, both deep and brilliant.

Nose

The complex, intense and attractive bouquet features red fruit and vanilla nuances.

Mouth

In fact, the enticing nose makes one impatient to drink the wine, which rewards the taster with rich, full-bodied tannin. This is a vinous, natural wine with a long fruity aftertaste. It could use a few more months for the tannic texture to become a little more polished, at which time it will be on a par with fine wines from the neighbouring Saint-Emilion appellation. It is extremely well-suited to regional dishes such as eel in red wine, black pudding, or Languedoc-style aubergines.
