Château Prieuré Lalande Red

Château Prieuré Lalande is one of the most reliable wines in the Lussac-Saint-Émilion appellation. Ideally situated on a clay-limestone rise in Lussac, this estate benefits from the expertise of a team focused on producing wines of the same complexity and quality as the great châteaux of nearby Saint-Émilion.

label of 2013 Château Prieuré Lalande

Wine style

Soft and Sensual

Grape blend

Merlot 65% / Cabernet franc 25% / Cabernet sauvignon 10%

Weather

There was record rainfall during the first half of 2013. Spring was very cool, even cold (May and June), and this caused a major delay in vine growth (flowering). Much more clement weather (warm and sunny) arrived in July and lasted until the harvest.

Tasting Comment

Appearance

Lovely garnet-red colour with scattered dark purple highlights.

Nose

2013 Prieuré Lalande unveils a pleasant combination of fruity notes, such as redcurrant, blackberry, morello cherry and blackcurrant, underpinned by spicy nuances (fresh pepper).

Mouth

Starts out smooth and well-structured going on to reveal a round, silky texture. Lovely fruit and vanilla nuances make this wine a real pleasure to taste. A treat paired with grilled red meats, beef bourguignon or roast lamb.
