Château Tour de Bonnet Red

Château Tour de Bonnet exists in white, rosé and red versions. This wine was created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the construction of a belvedere by André Lurton's grandfather, Léonce Récapet. The deep red colour is extremely attractive and the smooth, delicious and very soft tannin provides backbone to the long, elegant and fruity aftertaste.

Appellation : Bordeaux

Wine style

Soft and Sensual

Grape blend

Merlot 50% / Cabernet Sauvignon 50%.

Weather

Winter and spring were very mild, but the summer of 2014 did not live up to our expectations: it rained heavily in July, and August was much cooler than usual. However, starting in September, a miraculous Indian summer with high temperatures, was very favourable to ripening.

Tasting Comment

Appearance

Its lovely, intense colour is a deep cherry-red, with some purple highlights. These nuances will evolve as it ages.

Nose

The nose is intensely fruity, featuring blackcurrants, strawberries, and fresh redcurrants.

Mouth

The initial impression on the palate is soft, with a certain freshness. The smooth tannins are enhanced by hints of redcurrants and blackberries. The wine has a tight, nicely-controlled tannic structure, which gives it volume without any harshness. The aftertaste is deliciously long. It is enjoyable young, for its fruity potential, for example as an apéritif with a plate of delicatessen meats, or with turkey fillet in cream sauce, or rabbit with prunes.
