Château Tour de Ségur Red

Made from a terroir of character, the wines of Chateau Tour de Segur are distinguished by their deep color  and the subtle bouquet, all in finesse and generosity.

2013 Château Tour de Ségur label

Wine style

Soft and Sensual

Grape blend

Merlot 65% / Cabernet franc 25% / Cabernet sauvignon 10%.

Weather

There was record rainfall during the first half of 2013. Spring was very cool, even cold (May and June), and this caused a major delay in vine growth (flowering). Much more clement weather (warm and sunny) arrived in July and lasted until the harvest.

Tasting Comment

Appareance

Garnet-red colour with lovely deep purple highlights.

Nose

Very expressive aromas of redcurrant, blackberry, morello cherry, and blackcurrant, along with a spicy component (freshly-ground black pepper).

Mouth

Starts out quite smooth on the palate, going on to show good structure and a round, silky texture. Lovely fruit and vanilla nuances. This delicious and elegant 2013 Tour de Ségur will be a hit with beef, lamb, and other red meats.

2017 Edition - Château de Barbe Blanche, which one belonged to King Henry the 4th, has belonged to André Lurton and André Magnon since the year 2000. The 28-hectare estate also produces Châteaux Prieuré Lalande and Château Tour de Ségur. This blend of  Merlot (70%) and the two Cabernets has a bouquet of red and black fruit with discreet overtones of oak and spice.  The wine is smooth and round on the palate with a light structure. Simple and immediately appealing, this truly pleasurable wine is one to drink unceremoniously.
