Château de Cruzeau White

Hand picking, whole grape pressing, and fermentation and ageing in oak barrels with bâtonnage (lees stirring) are but a few of the quality-oriented winemaking practices enabling us to make the most of superb grapes. Featuring fruity and floral overtones, this wine consistently leaves the impression of a vivacious, distinguished wine.

label château de Cruzeau white 2005
Appellation : Pessac-Léognan

Wine style

Elegant and Fruity

Grape blend

100% Sauvignon blanc.

Weather

The weather was ideal in 2005 and produced a superb vintage in Bordeaux. It was exceptionally dry for the region from winter to autumn. Sunshine was substantial starting in late spring. Summer temperatures were high, but there was nothing approaching a heat wave.

Tasting Comment

Appearance

Straw-yellow colour with very pale highlights.

Nose

Forward, intense bouquet with toasty nuances and nutty overtones, as well as a mineral element that adds complexity.

Mouth

Full-bodied on the palate, but also impressively straightforward, crisp, and not at all aggressive. Has stayed remarkably fresh, and the slight signs of maturity make this wine the perfect match for Bresse chicken or fillet of sea bass in a cream sauce. It also goes very well with shrimp curry risotto.
