Château de Cruzeau White

Hand picking, whole grape pressing, and fermentation and ageing in oak barrels with bâtonnage (lees stirring) are but a few of the quality-oriented winemaking practices enabling us to make the most of superb grapes. Featuring fruity and floral overtones, this wine consistently leaves the impression of a vivacious, distinguished wine.

label château de Cruzeau white 2008
Appellation : Pessac-Léognan

Wine style

Elegant and Fruity

Grape blend

100% Sauvignon blanc.

Weather

The main features this year were humidity and cold. There were heavy rains in April and May (during the vegetative cycle) and a cool summer, especially in June and August. Warm, dry weather in September enhanced ripening.

Tasting Comment

Appearance

Pale yellow with silvery highlights.

Nose

The nose is both mineral and fruity (red grapefruit, tropical fruit, lemon). Still closed, the oak blends in with subtlety, promising to reach full expression by mid-2010.

Mouth

The palate is already expressive, with a perfect balance of opulence, sweetness, structure and freshness. Intense fruity notes of mango and white peach explode on the tastebuds, lingering through a long, long finish. Fabulous with fish dishes or white meat. (January, 2010)

A distinguished Pessac-Léognan white, with a colossal nose of flowers and fruit. The palate is divinely elegant. Serene and long.

Le Guide Hachette :

From the same winemaker as chateaux Couhins-Lurton and La Louvière, this 100% Sauvignon has more modest ambitions. Nonetheless, it is classic and well-crafted: greeny-yellow, with a pleasant lychee and peachpit nose and an aromatic palate. Simple, light, smooth upfront, with a lively finish, pleasant with grilled fish or seafood. Drink this Pessac-Léognan as soon as you read this.

Fresh, fruity, a rather basic Sauvignon, but pleasant. 2012-2015.
