Château de Cruzeau Red

Nature has been especially generous to Château de Cruzeau, whose superb gravel rises with perfect sun exposure were predestined for winegrowing. Such natural gifts could only produce an elegant wine reflecting one of the finest terroirs in the Pessac-Léognan appellation. The men and women who have made wine at Cruzeau since the 17th century have always worked hard to bring out its intrinsic personality and bouquet with hints of truffle and forest floor.

label château de Cruzeau red 2006
Appellation : Pessac-Léognan

Wine style

Tender and Aromatic

Grape blend

Cabernet Sauvignon 55% / Merlot 43% / Cabernet Franc 2%.

Weather

Although the first quarter of 2006 was cold and wet (precipitation in March was 3 to 4 times greater than average), this was above all a hot year – in fact, the second hottest since 1950. There was a brief period of extreme heat in July, but the month of September was very mild and dry.

Tasting Comment

Appareance

Impressively brilliant, clear garnet.

Nose

Captivatingly fleeting blackberry and cassis notes with toasty oak and a hint of menthol.

Mouth

Smooth, full-bodied, deliciously unctuous. Clean fruit notes linger on the palate. Will gain even more complexity in the next two to three years as the bouquet matures, and will be perfect with dark meats such as leg of lamb or duck, or farm-raised pork chop steaks.
