Château de Cruzeau Red

Nature has been especially generous to Château de Cruzeau, whose superb gravel rises with perfect sun exposure were predestined for winegrowing. Such natural gifts could only produce an elegant wine reflecting one of the finest terroirs in the Pessac-Léognan appellation. The men and women who have made wine at Cruzeau since the 17th century have always worked hard to bring out its intrinsic personality and bouquet with hints of truffle and forest floor.

2016 red Château de Cruzeau label
Appellation : Pessac-Léognan

Wine style

Rich and Powerful

Grape blend

Cabernet Sauvignon 55 % / Merlot 45%

Weather

2016 was one of the finest vintages in the past 20 years. Winter was exceptionally wet and mild, and it rained a great deal in spring until June. However, the weather changed radically in mid-June, turning warm and quite dry, with cool nights. Ideal conditions for growing excellent wine grapes!

Ratings and reviews

90.00 / 100

The 2016 De Cruzeau offers slightly smudged strawberry and blackberry fruit on the nose, laced with bay and wild heather. The palate is medium-bodied, quite sappy and nicely balanced. There is a ouch of simplicity toward the finish, but this straightforwardness is an attribute. Enjoy over the next 8 to 10 years. (Neal martin)

Dense and linear with a pretty finish of currants, crushed stones, cement and berries. Full-bodied, tight and tannic. Very attractive.
