Nature has been especially generous to Château de Cruzeau, whose superb gravel rises with perfect sun exposure were predestined for winegrowing. Such natural gifts could only produce an elegant wine reflecting one of the finest terroirs in the Pessac-Léognan appellation. The men and women who have made wine at Cruzeau since the 17th century have always worked hard to bring out its intrinsic personality and bouquet with hints of truffle and forest floor.
Rich and Powerful
Cabernet Sauvignon 55% / Merlot 45%
2019 was marked by a fairly mild winter, resulting in early bud break. Spring rainfall was scarce and drought conditions set in in early summer. Rainfall in August provided a welcome relief for winegrowers.
Color is intense red, close to the color of garnet.
The nose, very elegant, reveals all its richness after aeration: greedy notes of red fruits, very ripe (red currant), a touch of spices and chocolate...
On the palate, it is a well-balanced wine that offers a very nice structure, with well-coated tannins, tasty aromas of red fruits, freshness and a good length. Its ageing potential is high. But it can also be enjoyed now as an aperitif on toast with smoked duck breast, on a mushroom risotto, or even on a cheese platter.
- Adrian Van Velsen -
Very pleasant bouquet with notes of praline, blackcurrant and mint. In the mouth, the wine combines fullness and freshness. Its tannins are tight but well integrated and support the whole palate. A wine of character that deserves some ageing. 2024-2039.
Dark purple colour with violet hue and almost black core. Elegant nose, initially slightly closed, fine berry fruit and subtle oak. On the palate ripe tannins and fine acidity, well structured with good length and freshness, a very pleasant wine.
2021 - 2034
