Château de Quantin Red

The vines at Quantin grow on deep gravel to produce a red wine with very ripe, smoky aromas. This is very elegant on the palate with solid, well-extracted tannin and an attractive personality in all vintages.

label château de Quantin red 2011
Appellation : Pessac-Léognan

Wine style

Rich and Powerful

Grape blend

Cabernet sauvignon 50% / Merlot 50%.

Weather

Temperatures were much higher than average from February to June, with much less rainfall than usual. There were already signs of drought at the end of Spring.

Tasting Comment

Appearance

Very brilliant colour with garnet-red nuances and brilliant highlights.

Nose

The nose is starting to show spicy, sweet and slightly volatile aromas, as well as hints of ripe fruit such as plums.

Mouth

The wine starts off straightforward and elegant on the palate. In fact, it has everything one could hope for in a Pessac-Léognan. The powerful tannin, due to the large proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, is also rich and smooth. 2011 is a great vintage for the northern part of the appellation, near the city of Bordeaux, as exemplified by this wine. It is already enjoyable to drink, and will go very well with red meats that are not overly cooked, mixed salads, and aged cheeses.
