Château de Quantin Red

The vines at Quantin grow on deep gravel to produce a red wine with very ripe, smoky aromas. This is very elegant on the palate with solid, well-extracted tannin and an attractive personality in all vintages.

label of 2016 Château de Quantin red
Appellation : Pessac-Léognan

Wine style

Rich and Powerful

Grape blend

Cabernet sauvignon 50% / Merlot 50%.

Weather

2016 was one of the finest vintages in the past 20 years. Winter was exceptionally wet and mild, and it rained a great deal in spring until June. However, the weather changed radically in mid-June, turning warm and quite dry, with cool nights. Ideal conditions for growing excellent wine grapes!

Tasting Comment

Appearance

2016 Château de Quantin is a very attractive, brilliant, garnet-red colour scattered with sumptuous purple highlights.

Nose

The very round, pleasant bouquet unveils delicious, very ripe black fruit aromas (morello cherry, blackcurrant), accompanied by subtle hints of vanilla, conferring its elegance.

Mouth

Starts out incredibly smooth and generous on the palate. The wine's flavour profile reveals all the aromatic qualities of a Pessac-Léognan with delicious red fruit notes and spicy nuances, culminating in a lovely long aftertaste. This wine is worth ageing for a year or two to fully express all its aromatic complexity. Pair with Basque-style chicken, delicatessen meats, or roast lamb for a match made in heaven!
