The wines of Rochemorin were much appreciated in the 18th century by the lord of the manor, who was none other than Charles Louis de Secondat, Baron de Montesquieu. The famous philosopher and author of "The Spirit of the Laws" was full of praise for these vivacious aromatic wines. You too will be delighted with the honeysuckle, blackcurrant bud, pineapple, apple and pear flavours that combine marvellously on the palate. The wines are also full-bodied, juicy and very fresh. The smoky finish reflects the unique gravel terroir in Pessac-Léognan.
Tender and Aromatic
100% Sauvignon blanc.
Spring was very trying, with considerable rainfall leading to fungal diseases of all sorts. This called for very close attention in the vines until the 14th of July, when the weather changed durably for the better.
Château de Rochemorin was one of the trend setters in restoring the reputation of fine white Bordeaux… Its appearance is impeccable, with a brilliant colour featuring delicate green highlights indicative of its youth.
The nose is very complex, with overtones of yellow and pink citrus fruit. Toasty notes, both from perfectly ripe grapes and well-integrated oak, give even more character to this generous wine. One or two more years in bottle will bring out the aromas beautifully.
2012 Château de Rochemorin is full-bodied, smooth, and very well-focused. The citrus on the nose carries over onto the palate, which displays an elegant mineral freshness typical of Rochemorin's particular brand of elegance. The aftertaste is quite long. This wine makes an excellent accompaniment to warm Norway lobster in a cream and grapefruit sauce or fillets of sole bonne-femme…
2016 guide of good bargains - The Sauvignon Blanc varietal character comes through markedly in this very expressive white wine. People who enjoy it will greatly appreciate 2012 Château de Rochemorin over this winter. One of the appellation's classic wines. (Gerbelle and Maurange)
From another property of the Lurton family, lemon, fig and grapefruit notes jump from the glass of this 100% Sauvignon Blanc. It is medium-bodied, fresh, not one of my favorites of the vintage, but certainly well-made, crisp and dry. Anticipated maturity: now-2020. Drink : 2015-2020.
Full-bodied herbaceousness is the hallmark of this ripe wine. It offers great acidity while also having rich yellow and grapefruit fruits. Dense with fruits and acidity while also structured, this is a wine to age for a few years. Drink from 2017.
Offers a forward, flattering feel, with warm shortbread, candied citrus rind, meringue, chamomile and kiwifruit flavors moving along and offset by a bitter hint of citrus oil, keeping this fresh overall. Drink now. (James Molesworth)

2015 Edition - A fortified farmhouse built in the Périgord style that once belonged to Montesquieu, this château nearly lost all its vines in the early 20th century because the owners at the time preferred forestry to winegrowing. Purchased in 1973 by André Lurton, the vineyard is now quite large (100 hectares) and has state-of-the-art cellars. This white wine, made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc, has a brilliant straw-yellow colour and elegant floral (acacia and boxwood), lemon, and oaky aromas. The wine starts out fresh on the palate, going on to reveal a rich, full-bodied, generous flavour. A discreet, elegant touch of bitterness on the finish adds complexity and length to a wine that shows balance from the very beginning. 2014-2019.
Stinky and tight and exciting. Drink 2015-2020.
Classic, pleasant, well-made, bursting with lovely citrus and mineral aromas, full-bodied, fresh and well-balanced on the palate.
2013 - 2020
