The wines of Rochemorin were much appreciated in the 18th century by the lord of the manor, who was none other than Charles Louis de Secondat, Baron de Montesquieu. The famous philosopher and author of "The Spirit of the Laws" was full of praise for these vivacious aromatic wines. You too will be delighted with the honeysuckle, blackcurrant bud, pineapple, apple and pear flavours that combine marvellously on the palate. The wines are also full-bodied, juicy and very fresh. The smoky finish reflects the unique gravel terroir in Pessac-Léognan.
Tender and Aromatic
100% Sauvignon blanc
2020 was marked by very mild temperatures and contrasting precipitation: heavy spring rainfall was followed by an intense summer drought. The fairly mild winter led to early bud break. The summer heat gave way to cool nights in late August, ideal for ripening grapes.
Clear colour, a pretty pale yellow, enhanced by a few green, slightly silvery reflections.
Nose, full of finesse, very expressive, is marked by a tasty mixture of yellow fruits (peach, apricot) and citrus fruits (grapefruit, lemon zest).
Lots of fullness on the attack. On the palate, there is a nice sweetness, roundness, with juicy white fruit aromas (peach, pear); all very fresh and associated with a slight toastiness. Discreet oak. Nice length. A wine to be enjoyed with a blanquette de la mer (fish and scallops), an endive gratin with salmon, or even a chicken with tarragon.
Cask sample. Limey and herbal chamomile-tinged nose with that hallmark sweaty note. Nicely textured wine with a stony, greengage and plum palate. Quite rich and ripe in style, perhaps lacking a little freshness but shows good fruit intensity and concentration. Should drink well young.(Alistair Cooper)
Bright yellow colour with green hue. Refined nose with expressive character, aroma reminiscent of fresh tangerine, lemon zest, physalis, starfruit and candied orange peel, hints of mint in the background. On the palate well balanced with fresh and juicy fruit, savoury character with fine minerality, hints of aromatic herbs in the background, a wonderful wine with convincing length.
Intense bouquet marked by spices and aromatic herbs, followed by citrus fruits. Fruity and slightly saline attack. Beautiful fruity expression from the start to the finish. Thanks to its tension and salinity, the wine is balanced, refreshing and persistent. A great success. 2022-2030

The 2020 Château de Rochemorin Blanc has a taut, focused bouquet of green apple, white flowers and touches of orange blossom, refined and blooming in the glass. The well-balanced palate delivers orange zest and citrus peel, assiduously integrated oak and a bright, pleasing finish. Very fine.
