2015 was the third warmest year since 1900... Drought conditions, above-average monthly temperatures and sunshine (in the first half of the year), cool nights and hot weather in August accompanying véraison (colour change) were all ideal for the vines!
Tasting Comment
Appearance
A deep, dark garnet colour presages the density of this wine.
Nose
On the nose, intense aromas of ripe black fruits of blackcurrant, cassis and blueberry, are complemented by notes of sandalwood and liquorice, lifted by a leafy, minty edge.
Mouth
A full-bodied wine on the palate, it is rich and deliciously smooth, evoking its noble Margaux origins and the character of the vintage. Perfectly integrated tannins belie their power with a sensuous, yet concentrated mid-palate. The fruit, smoothness and delicate freshness combine to make a beautifully-balanced wine. Ideally accompanies red meat, spicy cuisine, or duck; however the versatility of this wine will make it a great partner for many dishes.
